Asōgi is surprised that Sherlock Holmes is on the ship. He says a theft took place during the blackout earlier. The culprit apparently fled to the first class cabin, Holmes wants to search this room. Ryūnosuke Naruhodō is stowing away in the closet so Asōgi doesn't really want Holmes investigating. So he directs him to the cabin next door but his is the only one occupied. Asōgi's stomach rumbles and suggest that they discuss this after dinner, Holmes then quickly goes to the closet. Naruhodō suddenly sneezes and Asōgi can't think of any way to explain that.

Holmes concludes that no one was in the closet surprising Asōgi. The door knocks again, it's the first mate Mitrov Stroganov. He tries to tell them about the theft but they already know, Holmes disappears into the closet. The detective says the thief on the ship was hiding in the closet. The evidence is three clean bones, the items that were stolen were three T-bone steaks them that were to be served at dinner. The chef said the culprit fled to the first class cabins that's where Holmes and Stroganov gave chase. Holmes says the culprit fled this room but Stroganov thinks it's Asōgi due to all the clues. But Holmes says that's impossible because his stomach is growling. It was there that Holmes and Stroganov decide to leave and find the true thief. But first, Asōgi and Holmes properly introduce themselves then Holmes reminds him that smuggling pets is strictly forbidden on the ship.

Asōgi realizes that Holmes found Naruhodō under the bed. Naruhodō thanks Asōgi for trying to distract him. He didn't actually see Holmes but took a chance. Turns out Naruhodō was the steak thief due to his extreme hunger to being in the closet. Asōgi chews him out, but he turns out Naruhodō only took one. He suggests that a ghost stole the other two but Asōgi is more concerned about Sherlock Holmes.
