A hound-shaped chess piece was a piece of evidence in Miles Edgeworth's investigation into the murder of Horace Knightley.

Knightley's murder[]

Main article: The Imprisoned Turnabout

Prior to Knightley's murder, Sirhan Dogen carved the hound piece due to playing chess through the mail and thinking about Anubis, his dog, and wondering why hounds weren't in the game.

Later, Edgeworth found the Hound Piece in Dogen's special cell. He later used it to deduce from Knightley's Memo that Dogen and Knightley were playing against each other.

Note[]

The game position depicted on the memo is identical to one reached by an exhibition match from 2002.[1] That match ends with White resigning after 68 moves. Knightley, who plays White, was killed after this position was reached.
