Gyakuten Saiban ~ Gyakuten no Supottoraito (逆転裁判~逆転のスポットライト; lit. "Turnabout Trial - Turnabout Spotlight") is a stage show based on the Ace Attorney video game series.

Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey attend a stage show performance by the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe, featuring Will Powers as the Steel Samurai and Larry Butz in a minor role, with Miles Edgeworth and Dick Gumshoe attending as part of the audience. During a fight scene, a large lantern prop falls onto one of the actors, injuring him. However, Powers is soon accused of having caused it on purpose, and it is up to Wright to acquit his former client and determine the truth of the incident.

    • An easy-going defense attorney with a sarcastic side who is dedicated to his friends and clients. Came to watch the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe with Maya Fey, but finds himself defending Will Powers after an on-stage incident. Childhood friend of Miles Edgeworth and Larry Butz.
  • Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi; 御剣怜侍)
    Played by: Takuma Wada (和田琢磨)
    • A calm and level-headed prosecutor who came to watch the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe with Dick Gumshoe. Faces Wright in court after Powers is accused of causing an on-stage incident that injures another actor. Childhood friend of Wright and Butz.
  • Maya Fey (Mayoi Ayasato; 綾里真宵)
    Played by: Karin Ogino (荻野可鈴)
    • A spunky, perky, excitable, and outgoing teenager who is a spirit medium in-training and Wright's assistant. A huge fan of the Steel Samurai.
  • Larry Butz (Masashi Yahari; 矢張政志)
    Played by: Akihiro Hayashi (林明寛)
    • A loud-mouthed childhood friend of Wright and Edgeworth who often acts without thinking and goes through jobs as often as he does girlfriends. Has become a member of the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe, with a minor acting role as one of the minions of the villainous Crow Tengu.
  • Dick Gumshoe (Keisuke Itonokogiri; 糸鋸圭介)
    Played by: Ryūko Isogai (磯貝龍虎)
    • A hard-working, if slightly bumbling, police detective who frequently works alongside Edgeworth. Came to see the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe with Edgeworth.
  • Will Powers (Saburō Niboshi; 荷星三郎)
    Played by: Isamu Sugihara (小笠原健)
    • A meek and uncharismatic actor with the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe who portrays the Steel Samurai. Is accused of causing an on-stage incident that injures another actor.
  • Wendy Oldbag (Kaoru Ōba; 大場カオル)
    Played by: Megumi Kuge (久下恵美)
    • A talkative, gossipy, and bossy old woman who works as a janitor for the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe. Has a long-standing crush on Edgeworth, much to his displeasure.
  • Judge (Saibanchō; 裁判長)
    Played by: Hiroshi Inoue (井上浩)
    • The presiding judge for the majority of Wright and Edgeworth's trials during their respective careers.

  • Kaori Miwakuno (美惑埜香)
    Played by: Asana Mamoru (虎南有香)
    • An actress with the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe who is skilled in fight scenes. She and Yuya Dan are dating.
  • Tōru Metadanai (芽多田内亨)
    Played by: Shō Tomita (富田翔)
    • The flamboyant producer for the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe. People often mispronounce his name, to his annoyance.
  • Riki Urano (裏野力)
    Played by: Keigo Kasuya (土井一海)
    • Stagehand supervisor for the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe.
  • Tsutomu Hikage (日陰ツトム)
    Played by: Tetsuro Sumino (角野哲郎)
    • An extremely nervous stagehand assistant with the Steel Samurai Theater Troupe who has stage fright and a phobia of people. Has given affectionate names to the ropes and weights backstage and is very protective of them.

    • A shy young woman who Butz, while posing as Edgeworth, had arranged a date with via the internet.
  • Buffalo Chikusa (バッファロー千種)
    Played by: Keiko Sobue (祖父江桂子)
    • A loud and aggressive female pro wrestler who is Sandaiji's best friend. Poses as Sandaiji during her date with "Edgeworth".
  • Gaga Miyako (ミヤコ蛾々)
    Played by: Yuki Umoto (隅田美保)
    • A spirit at the theater who was a Japanese kimono actress destined for Broadway prior to her death. Now a member of Troupe Sukhavati with four unnamed spirits.
