Megundal's unwilling accompliceEdit
- Main article: The Adventure of the Runaway Room
One cold night on a February, Gina Lestrade had slunk into an omnibus, looking for some items to steal and pawn off, she just stole a smoke launcher from her friend Iris Watson. Unknown to her, the omnibus was the backdrop of a meeting of Cosney Megundal and "Thrice-fired" Mortar Milverton over a music disc that had important information embedded on it. Lestrade had hid under the seat that had many items in it and her vision was obscured by blackness. Lestrade did not clearly hear what Milverton and Megundal were talking about before she had heard a loud thud, which was the sound of Milverton's body falling over. There, she was found by Megundal because she had a let out a scream as soon as the thud happened.
Lestrade was then dragged out and she was sat next to Milverton's corpse, with blood getting on her hands at some point. Megundal then offered to let her go that night, but not without a price: she could not tell the police or anyone else what she had seen or heard of and secondly, Gina had to take the deposit receipt from the pawn shop of the coat she saw Megundal give to the coachman and keep that receipt with her two months from that day and in the event that he could do not do this, Gina would have to go to the pawn shop and extend the deposit time because if this was not done, it would be sold off as unwanted merchandise. If she did not comply with his orders, then that would result in him having Lestrade and the other orphaned children chased out of the East End. Before his trial, Megundal then had Lestrade forge her testimony.
In the middle of the trial, she set off a smoke bomb that helped Megundal put Milverton's blood on the skylight. This would cause suspicions towards the top passengers, Oscar Fairplay and Adam Redifast. Lestrade first appeared saying Megundal took the fall for her, that caused two jurors to vote the final not guilty votes, prosecutor Barok van Zieks makes them change it. Lestrade lies saying she removed the items in the compartment and all she heard was Megundal's snoring. The jury decides that Lestrade is a unreliable witness until the defense, Ryūnosuke Naruhodō, says the testimony offers a new possibility. Despite protests, Megundal got acquitted as there was no evidence to prove that the bloodstain on the skylight was there at the scene of the crime.
Afterwards, Lestrade appears with Megundal. After Megundal leaves, she hates adults and points her smoke launcher at Naruhodō. Suddenly Iris Watson arrives, pulls out a larger smoke launcher, and asks Lestrade to come with her to a lab. Cosney Megundal suddenly died inside the omnibus when it mysteriously caught fire.

Despite Megundal's death, Gina Lestrade still went to the pawn shop to retrieve the disc. The owner, Hatch Windibank, gives her the coat with the disc in it, he's always been receiving goods from Lestrade. But then, Mortar Milverton's son Robert Crogley, under the alias of "Egg Benedict", claims that the coat and disc is his. Lestrade refuses to give it back, saying he's lying, until "Benedict" says the password to the items. But then he claims there is another item that Lestrade is hiding, so she attacks him, grabs the disc and gives it to Naruhodō. After Joint Reasoning, "Benedict" points a gun at Naruhodō to get the disc only for detective Tobias Gregson to arrive. Lestrade got the black coat but not the discs.
Sherlock Holmes invites Lestrade over for tea, she outright refuses but decides to show up anyway. Later that night, Lestrade thinks Holmes is a liar when he said a case Iris wrote, "The Hound of The Baskervilles", is in Windibank's vault. She thinks that he really sold it for money, so she went to the pawn shop to go get. Lestrade points a gun at Hatch Windibank demanding he unlock the vault. Reluctantly, the owner agrees and Lestrade realizes Holmes wasn't lying. Suddenly there was noise outside the vault, Windiback takes the gun and tells Lestrade to stay in. There was a lot of commotion and Hatch Windiback was suddenly killed. Lestrade took the gun to protect herself but then fell unconscious, then she was arrested for the murder of the pawn shop owner.
Gina Lestrade turned down one attorney due to being poor, chief justice Hart Vortex allows Naruhodō to be hers. She doesn't trust that Naruhodō could pull his job off but she tells them about the incident last night in the Gaol before she goes for her inquiry. But she says everyone lies, and she's the biggest liar around. She gives them a picture of a cat with a snowman that was in the coat's pocket. Susato Mikotoba tells Lestrade she's going to leave for Japan and she says she will part with a sad Iris because of her. Susato asks her to betray the belief she placed on Iris and Naruhodō or she will be all alone then demands Lestrade proof that she lies, so she reveals truth about that murder in the omnibus. When she's done she wonders if Naruhodō is mad that she lied during his important trial, everyone is really mad at Cosney Megundal for using children like her. Lestrade learns of Holmes' shooting right after the incident last night and Naruhodō asks if she really wants him to defend her. Reluctantly, she signs the written request but says she doesn't need an attorney. With that request, the group is allowed to investigate the pawn shop.
After Lestrade's interrogation ended, she doesn't want to hear what the group found at the crime scene, everyone is saying she's the killer. The attorney paperwork cut off time is approaching, so they ask her again if she wants Naruhodō to defend her. But first, they show her Iris' manuscript that was the only thing that was sought for in the vault, Naruhodō correctly guesses that she did it. She reveals that Iris was actually writing about Holmes and his partner, her father. Lestrade doesn't like being called nice, that's when Naruhodō sees that her sleeves are stained with blood, so Iris sprays her with an invention Holmes made and it turns purple meaning it's Mortar Milverton's blood, there's a lot more on the black coat too. Since the coat originally belonged to Cosney Megundal, the group realizes that he was actually guilty. Gina Lestrade is still not accepting him as an attorney, especially after she lied in the previous trial, but Naruhodō believes her despite what happened. There are always trustworthy allies in the world, Lestrade reluctantly agrees with the written request.
