The Ace Attorney Wiki aims to have articles written in complete detail, so there will inevitably be spoilers even in places that one may not expect, particularly for "in-universe" content. Addressing such spoilers can vary in difficulty depending on the situation, with some cases being quite difficult. "Out-of-universe" content such as articles about games or music are not likely to contain spoilers, but some cases, such as music track names, may contain spoilers nonetheless.
Marking spoilers[]
This wiki has built in two ways to hide content.
One method is to wrap text in a spoiler tag, like so:
<span class="spoiler">HIDDEN TEXT</span>
This renders as:
HIDDEN TEXT
Unfortunately, these spoiler tags are currently known not to work in gallery tabs or on the mobile skin (the way the site looks on mobile devices, e.g. phones and tablets).
The other method is to wrap the text with Template:Spoiler and Template:SpoilerEnd, as follows:
{{Spoiler}} HIDDEN TEXT {{SpoilerEnd}}
This renders as:
- This section contains major plot details. Proceed with this in mind.
HIDDEN TEXT
Currently, the application of these spoiler wrappers is on a subjective basis and there are no hard principles for them.
Content best practices[]
The lead section could, but generally should not, contain spoilers. Since the purpose of the lead section is to give a quick overview, it generally shouldn't be necessary to include heavy spoiler information on a lead section, such as the fact that a character is the culprit behind a case. In some cases, a spoiler could be argued to be an overall improvement to the lead section, but this is generally not the case. Nonetheless, given that lead sections do not have spoiler warnings of any kind, and show up in search engine results, spoiler details should generally be avoided.
In character bios, it's important to indicate which episodes are being drawn from in each section. This is typically done with a line right below the section header reading "Main article(s):" followed by links to the relevant episode articles. An example of how to do this in wikitext is:
==Background== :''Main article: [[The First Story]]''
Creative section header titles are allowed, even encouraged, but they shouldn't directly refer to information that spoils the plot point in question.
